The Scientific Method

Page history last edited by Mr. Tozer 10 years, 6 months ago

1.) State the Problem - Ask a QUESTION!

(About something you've seen or wondered about, etc.)

2.) Formulate a Hypothesis - What do you think an answer is to

your question... an educated guess / prediction.

3.) Make Observations - Think about how you could set up an

experiment to test your hypothesis by looking at your

     "question" closely.

4.) Design the Experiment - What materials and procedures

(steps) could you take to TEST your HYPOTHESIS?  Write it Down!

5.) Interpret Data - Make DETAILED OBSERVATIONS.

     Write everything down!

6.) Draw Conclusions - Were you right?  Did you prove (or disprove)

     your Hypothesis?

7.) Report Results - REMEMBER, every experiment should be

reproducible, or duplicatable.  So, when you write out and share

your findings, you have to include all parts of the Scientific Method

in DETAIL.  So, you have to write out the entire process and share it

with the world.  Even kids can make new scientific discoveries!
